Katherine Barkman is a principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet. She joined the company as a soloist in 2022. Prior to this, she spent four seasons dancing principal roles with the Washington Ballet and three years as the youngest principal dancer of Ballet Manila in the Philippines. While dancing with Ballet Manila, Barkman won silver medals from two of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions, the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi and the Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria. Her other major awards include the 2015 Asian Grand Prix Cup from Hong Kong, a gold medal from the 2015 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition in New Orleans, and a gold medal from the 2015 TANZOLYMP Festival in Berlin.
Barkman has performed numerous classical roles such as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Giselle in Giselle, and Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty. She has also originated roles such as Tatiana in Yury Possokhov’s Eugene Onegin and danced contemporary works by Justin Peck, Akram Khan, and Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa, among others. As a guest principal, Barkman has performed in Australia, Canada, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Russia, Latvia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and across the United States.

Melanie Hamrick, Joanna DeFelice, and Christine Shevchenko bring their exhilarating production, A Night at the Ballet, to Napa for the annual Dance Gala. The program features highlights from some of the world's most beloved classical ballets, including Don Quixote, Diana & Acteon, and Le Corsaire. The evening also includes a special appearance by guest artist Nicholas Palmquist.
