Festival Napa Valley, recognized for transforming California wine country into a cultural destination, has announced the lineup for its 2024 Summer Season, July 6 – 21. Featuring innovative classical, jazz, contemporary, opera, and dance productions paired with Napa Valley’s unparalleled food, wine, and hospitality, the 2024 lineup offers something for all budgets, ranging from daily admission-free concerts to the Festival’s renowned Patron experience.
On March 7, 2024 Festival Napa Valley presented composer Gordon Getty with its Angels of the Arts Award in a celebratory ceremony at San Francisco’s War Memorial Green Room. The elegant evening featured intimate musical performances by Alexandra Armantrading, Lisa Delan, Frederica von Stade, Nathan Granner, Lester Lynch, Curt Branom, David Barnett, Kevin Korth, and Jake Heggie and special tributes from Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Governor Gavin Newsom, Mayor London Breed, John Corigliano, Joyce DiDonato, and Francisco J. Núñez and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
Gordon Getty, the San Francisco businessman and award-winning classical-music composer, will soon have a playlist on Apple Music, alongside masters such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Amadeus Mozart. Apple Music will roll out the playlist later this year in coordination with Getty’s 91st birthday in December.
Nonagenarian Gordon Getty hails from one of America’s most storied families. The fourth son of J. Paul Getty, founder of Getty Oil, Getty was born in Los Angeles and raised in San Francisco. Over the years, Getty’s celebrated compositions have been performed around the world, including his hometown. Next month, Getty will be honored by Festival Napa Valley with the Angels of the Arts Award, at the War Memorial & Performing Arts Center.
Grammy-winning musician Lionel Richie is slated to make his way to Wine Country this summer to usher in Festival Napa Valley’s summer season. The organization announced the global superstar will be performing at its annual charity event, the Arts for All Gala, on July 14.

Festival Napa Valley has announced the Manetti Shrem Challenge, a $3 million matching gift from longtime benefactor Maria Manetti Shrem. Designed to inspire new giving, the Manetti Shrem Challenge will act as a catalyst for accelerating the growth of Festival Napa Valley’s year-round programming, educational initiatives, and scholarship programs.
Opus One Winery in Oakville will transform for an immersive sound experience Nov. 8 to premiere Yang Bao’s site-specific composition, “Sol One,” a work driven by his concept of “infinity music.”
